What the Truck

As you may know, skateboards have many moving parts to make the board ride and stay in one piece. One of the most important parts of any kind of skateboard is the trucks. No skateboards don’t have 4×4’s attached to them, its the middle saddles bolted to the underside of the deck. Each truck holds two wheels on either side. Not only does this hold the wheels in place on the board, it also works as a ledge it grind with and perform stall tricks with. Furthermore, the other purpose of having a decent set of trucks is the ability to lean into turns and glide. This is especially apparent in longboard which wield wider trucks for wider turns.

Generally speaking, the quality of trucks lies within how sturdy they are and how well they hold their turns. Quite obviously, a bad set of trucks will probably crack or break on you. Another telltale of bad trucks is lack of turning ability while riding and if they somehow end up crooked. This is a bad sign as riding your board will be unbalanced and unpleasant.

Where the Quality is

Even so, CCS Skateboard Trucks are right next to the top truck sellers in terms of quality. Originally known as, California Cheap Skates, the 1985 company made it their priority to provide skate inspired gear and clothing to customers. As soon as the mail-order market opened up, CCS took full advantage of that to provide products to everyone’s doorstep. In today’s day and age, CCS soared to the top and leading company for online sales for skateboarders around the world. It’s no question why they would offer anything but good quality products with such a strong standing background. When it comes to their trucks, they hold themselves up well. They come in 4 different sizes as well as 2 colors, black (pictured) and raw silver.

Installation

Installation of these trucks are quite simple, however, be sure to have a handy all-in-one Skate Tool in your arsenal to make the installation process a breeze. You’ll want to make sure that the trucks are mounted on the graphic side of the deck. Also, be sure to have the bushings (bolt with squishy thing in it) facing the center of the board so you know the truck is on right. If you apply the truck on backwards, it will create a confusing inverted turn when you begin to skate. CCS offers these solid skateboard trucks as well as other products that may come in handy at some point.
